The first reactions to Steven Spielberg's 'The Post' are glowing
Good news, everyone: The Postis reportedly just as good as you'd think a movie directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks would be.
SEE ALSO:Journalists race to expose government lies in the first trailer for Steven Spielberg's 'The Post'The first wave of critical reactions are in, and for the most part, they range from good to glowing. No surprise Streep and Hanks are getting praise for their work, but Bob Odenkirk is also getting his fair share of compliments.
It helps, too, that the premise feels so timely. The Postcenters on The Washington Post's publication of the Pentagon Papers in 1971, in defiance of the Nixon administration's efforts to restrain the press.
All of this makes The Postmust-see as we approach the end of the year – and especially if you're invested at all in the awards race, where there's a good chance The Postwill find some heat.
